Colin specialises in the use of GIS mapping techniques for behaviour modelling of the climate change impacts on various issues. He is working with the Committee for Melbourne investigating the impacts of climate change on Melbourne. He has also looked at the impact of climate change on tourism for different areas. He has p/grad students doing risk modelling from sea level change. His group aims to apply their expertise in smart and sophisticated ways to conserve the environment, support the sustainable use of key natural resources, build capacity and resilience in society, and identify credible policy options for future development.

Caroline is the Director of Global Sustainability at RMIT. She specialises in creating working models of global sustainability through collaboration with government, corporate, academic and community leaders in the application of global sustainability principles.

Mike’s research has focused on urban development processes, urban social theory, environmental economics and policy, housing markets and policy. Mike has been carrying out research of national significance and international reach into alternative financing approaches for affordable housing.

Tony’s primary research interest is in the area of housing and social policy with a focus on the changing nature of housing markets and distributional outcomes in a period of social and economic restructuring. Tony also studies the areas of housing industry, building regulation and housing renovation with a view to informing policy development that aims to improve the environmental performance of residential housing.

Craig specialises in the area of corporate social and environmental reporting and associated accountability and has an extensive list of top tier international publications in the area. He is currently supervising 9 PhD students who are studying various issues associated with social and environmental performance and accountability, and is working with industry and NGOs on various sustainability issues.

Peter is the Program Leader of the RMIT Global Cities Institute, Climate Change Adaptation Program as such he is involved in overseeing all of the research that occurs at RMIT on this topic. Through the Nautilus Institute Peter uses a range of cooperative engagement methods in order to create near term solutions to complex global problems such as security and sustainability. Peter has been deeply involved in energy policy and security issues throughout Asia Pacific.

Katherine is involved in projects with communities at risk from CC related disasters. She focuses on children and helping their voices to be heard in development policy issues. She explores the future for children in these areas and works with them as effective communicators of disaster risk and initiators of disaster prevention activities.

Usha heads up the Sustainable Built Environment and Sustainable Materials Program for the Centre for Design. She is involved in the development of a range of decision-tools to assist with the design of buildings with low greenhouse gas emissions throughout their entire life cycle. Usha has worked in the public sector on developing and implementing sustainability policy and regulation in the built environment and has a strong multidisciplinary approach. Usha and her team provide training on sustainable building techniques and materials throughout Australia and Internationally. They have completed scoping studies on the sustainability of building materials for the Department of Environment & Heritage and the AGO.

Dave works on a range of issues involved in creating sustainable cities. He looks at water, urban form, environmental policy, natural resource management and social impact assessment issues for cities across Asia-Pacific.

Barbara has been involved in research into the risks climate change poses to coastal cities and adaptation actions that will be required. Her research interests include sustainable development, strategic planning, coastal planning and management and urban public policy. She is currently completing a PhD examining governance arrangements for sustainable development on the Australian coast.

Since 1991, Alan has been co-director of Sustainable Solutions, an environmental consultancy, and has been involved in building energy and environmental rating and regulation, green building projects, educational software, green appliance development, industrial / business energy and environmental management, as well as policy analysis. He was awarded a Centenary Medal in 2003 for his contribution to climate change policy. Alan’s main focus is on emission mitigation actions, programs and policies.

Richard specialises in solving complex global problems, working on Indonesian and Australian responses for climate change adaptation in relation to health, trade, security, energy and urban infrastructure issues.

Gavin is the director of the AHURI-RMIT/NATSEM Research Centre. His main research interests lie in the fields of public policy and urban studies, housing finance and labour economics. Recent research projects include studies on Housing Assistance and Economic Participation, and the Implications of Loss of a Partner for Older Private Renters.
